Looking to clean up your eating? Salad dressings and dips can be some of the worst offenders, loaded with chemicals, preservatives, and sugar. The good news is that homemade dressing is actually pretty darn easy! And what dressing/dip screams summer more than good ole Ranch dressing?

Don’t let the idea of homemade dressing intimidate you! Once you understand the basis of this mayo/sour cream sauce, you can tweak the seasonings to fit your preferences. Before you know it, you’ll prefer your Ranch to anyone else’s. This is how I do it. Use it as your starting point, and don’t be afraid to experiment!

Homemade Ranch Dressing
1/2 C your favorite mayonnaise (we prefer Sir Kensington’s)
1/2 C your favorite sour cream (we prefer Tillamook)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp dried chives
OPTIONAL: 1/4 tsp celery seed
OPTIONAL: 1/2 tsp dried tarragon
Combine all ingredients well in a bowl. If you want a thicker dip for veggies or chips, you’re done! If you want a thinner dressing, thin it to your desired consistency with the milk of your choice (though cow’s milk works best). If you prefer a tangier ranch, use buttermilk!
