My husband has been so supportive lately that when he requested biscuits and gravy, I was eager to oblige, even in hot summer weather. Since he enjoys a kick of heat in his food, I made this gravy a little spicier using a hot type of sausage and red pepper flakes.
NOTE: This recipe isn’t snobby about biscuits. Homemade biscuits would be fantastic! But if you don’t have the time to make from scratch and would rather just pop a tube of Pillsbury Grands, go for that instead. You simply need 8 baked biscuits of your choice to top with your gravy.

Biscuits and Spicy Sausage Gravy
(Original recipe: Tastes Better From Scratch)
8 biscuits, baked
1 pound sausage of your choice (I prefer Isernio’s Chicken Sausage)
2 TBSP + 1 tsp all-purpose flour
2-1/2 C half and half
1 TBSP butter
1/8 tsp dried thyme
1/8 tsp dried crushed rosemary
1/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Brown sausage in a large saucepan. Use a paper towel to absorb most of the grease from the pan.
Add butter and flour. Stir to combine evenly.
Pour in half & half. Simmer on medium-low for several minutes, stirring often, until thickened.
Add thyme, rosemary, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
Serve over biscuits, preferably warmed.
