I dream of someday bringing home a Breville Ice Cream Maker to experiment with all kinds of delicious ice cream flavor ideas. But just like everyone else right now, we need to be smart with our money. So this summer, we’re celebrating no churn ice cream recipes!
One of the easiest flavors for beginner ice cream makers is banana. This works out well for me, as I have an addiction to a particular Banana Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream available at most supermarkets. I folded in some chocolate chips, et voila! Easy, affordable, homemade ice cream with clean ingredients that rivals the taste of the supermarket stuff!
Warning: it’s dangerous to realize how easy delicious no-churn ice cream is to make at home. If you can make whipped cream – and everyone can whip cream! – you can make this no-churn ice cream. The mixer and freezer do most of the work; you just get to enjoy. Give it a try!

No Churn Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
(Original recipe: Seasons and Suppers)
3 medium bananas, ripe
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch fine sea salt
2-1/2 C heavy whipping cream
1/2 C chocolate chips
In a large bowl, mash the bananas well. Add the condensed milk and mash again until the two are mixed well and fairly smooth. Stir in the vanilla and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to medium peaks. Add 1/4 of the whipped cream to the banana mixture. Fold gently with a spatula to combine, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream. Add the remaining whipped cream in 2 to 3 additions, folding gently just until combined.
Spread the mixture into a 9×9-inch pan and cover with plastic wrap. Put it in the freezer for one hour.
Remove the partially-frozen ice cream from the freezer and add in the chocolate chips. Carefully fold them into the ice cream. Re-cover the dish with plastic wrap and return to the freezer.
Freeze the mixture until firm, at least 5 additional hours (6 hours total).
You may need to let the ice cream sit briefly at room temperature before serving. Ice cream will be frozen solid!

I’d love to have an ice cream maker as well, but will probably wait. Haha. I didn’t know making ice cream without one was possible. I going to try this. Thank you so much.
